STEVE O'SULLIVAN

 

Growing up in West London, Steve O’Sullivan‘s early years were filled with dub, reggae, and electro before he first heard Robert Hood in the early ’90s and unearthed a love for minimal techno, leading him to establish himself as one of the rising names in the UK underground techno scene. Releases on Soma, Ferox and his own Bluespirit, Bluetrain, Green, and Mosaic labels brought attention from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Sven Vath, and Richie Hawtin.

 

As a producer, Steve produces slowly-evolving, minimal, soulful club tracks showing his love for subtle sounds and dub effects; and as a label head of the respected Mosaic label, he has proven himself as a springboard for some of the finest talents out there, including Steve Bug, Baby Ford, Deepchord, Roman Flugel, Ben Sims, Mark Broom, and Ricardo Villalobos, to name just a few. 

 

After taking a long sabbatical from the scene in 2003 Steve returned to music production in 2013 and strong ties with Sushitech were quickly established with the ‘Mosaic Reshaped’ and ‘Bluetrain Retrospective’ compilations. A slew of high-quality releases and remixes have followed on Sushitech, Mosaic, and other imprints over the last 7 years covering a range of styles from deep dubbed out techno to minimal house.

 

As one of the rare breeds of producers who don’t DJ, Steve showcases the depth and range of his hypnotic and dancefloor-driven discography through his all hardware live show which has seen him play in the very best clubs across the world.
