David Labeij

Dutch minimalist house producer David Labeij (1978) has been earning an inordinate amount of attention these days of late – best described as a funky hybridization of the various strains of house he has been exposed to whilst adding a dollop of his own playful invention.

Producing techno since 2001 his career took of in 2006 after his first two releases with his friend Lauhaus under the guise of “Polder” on the Amsterdam based labels Intacto records and Remote area.

David started playing in bands at the age of 16. Mainly listening to hardcore punk music after one of his friends took him to a underground house party in the famous Graansilo in Amterdam he was immediatly hooked to electronical music. He bought his first set of turntables in 1997 and moved through various styles of music untill he discoverd the minimal techno sound that was coming out of Germany in the late ninety’s.

Minimal techno was the sound David had been waiting for and soon dj-ing alone was not satisfying him enough. He soon started to use some basic music program’s in attempt to create his own take on things. Since this initial time 2 years have passed and all the pieces are coming together. As a result of this David has been playing at all the big partys and festivals in the Netherlands and his music is being appreciated by people all over the world making 2007 the first year his music has taken him over the Dutch borders.
